Home podiatry, foot and nail care that comes to you

Healthy feet keep people independent. A Head2Toe podiatrist visits your home for the foot and nail care that gets harder to manage on your own, and for the checks that keep small problems small.

General foot and nail care

Nail trimming and thinning, corns and calluses, dry and cracked skin, all done with sterile instruments in the comfort of your own chair.

Diabetic foot assessments

Checks of circulation, sensation and skin for people living with diabetes, with a clear written summary for you and your GP.

Ingrown toenail care

Relief for painful, inflamed ingrown nails and advice on stopping them coming back. Where minor surgery is the right option, we explain what that involves.

Footwear appraisal

A look at the shoes and slippers you wear most, with honest advice on what is helping, what is hurting and what to look for when you next buy.

Orthotics assessment

An assessment of whether insoles or orthotics would help with pain or walking, and what kind would suit the shoes you actually wear.

Heel and arch pain

Treatment and advice for the aches that make the first steps of the morning hard.

Why home podiatry matters

Reaching your feet gets harder with age, after surgery, and with conditions like arthritis, back pain or reduced vision. When nails and skin are left too long, small problems turn into pain, infections and wounds, and those are a major reason older adults lose confidence walking. Regular podiatry at home is one of the simplest ways to protect independence.

Home visits also suit people who cannot easily get to a clinic for other reasons, such as NDIS participants, people recovering from surgery, and people caring for a partner who cannot be left alone.

What a home podiatry visit looks like

Your podiatrist arrives with a sterile instrument pack, a portable light, and everything else needed for the session. You stay in your own comfortable chair. The first visit includes a chat about your health, any medications that affect your feet, and a look at your circulation, sensation and skin. Then the treatment itself, which for most people means nail care and attention to any corns, calluses or dry skin.

Before leaving, your podiatrist explains what they found, what to watch for between visits, and when the next visit should be. If anything needs a GP’s attention, we tell you clearly and can write to your doctor.

Diabetes and your feet

Diabetes can reduce blood flow and feeling in the feet, which means injuries can go unnoticed and heal slowly. A diabetic foot assessment checks both and gives you a risk level, which sets how often your feet should be reviewed. Many people with diabetes are eligible for a Medicare care plan from their GP that helps with the cost of podiatry. Our FAQ explains how that works.

Footwear, the honest conversation

The right shoes prevent falls, pressure sores and pain. The wrong ones cause all three. At home we can see the shoes you actually wear every day, not the pair you bring to a clinic, and that makes the advice more useful. A footwear appraisal looks at fit, support, sole grip and fastening, and we are straightforward about what should be retired.

What stays at the clinic

Some podiatry services need equipment that cannot travel. Wart treatment with specialised devices, nail surgery that needs a clinic setup, and detailed walking analysis are done at a Head2Toe clinic. If one of those is the right option for you, your podiatrist will explain why and help arrange it.

Your podiatrist comes from a Head2Toe clinic

Head2Toe Home is the home-visit arm of the Head2Toe group, with clinics in Moonee Ponds, Brunswick and Kew East. The podiatrist who visits is part of that team, works to the same standards and keeps the same clinical records, so your care is joined up whether it happens at home or in a clinic.

How visits are funded

Home podiatry can be paid for privately, or through the NDIS, a home care package, DVA or a Medicare care plan where you are eligible. Our FAQ covers fees and Medicare in plain language. Send an enquiry and we will confirm what applies to you before the first visit.

Common questions

How often should I have my nails and feet attended to?

It depends on how fast your nails grow, your circulation and whether you have diabetes or another condition that affects your feet. Most people settle into a visit every six to ten weeks. Your podiatrist will recommend a schedule after the first visit.

Are the instruments sterile?

Yes. We bring sterilised instrument packs to every home visit, the same as we use in our clinics, and used instruments go back for sterilisation. Nothing is reused between people without going through that process.

Can you treat my feet if I have diabetes?

Yes. Regular podiatry is an important part of diabetes care. We assess your circulation and sensation at the first visit and set a review schedule that matches your risk level.

Do you prescribe orthotics at home?

We assess for orthotics at home and advise on the best option. Some custom orthotics need measurements or equipment that live at the clinic, and we will tell you if that applies to you.
